How would you describe what you do? Your practice, your craft, your cash machine?

My craft and cash machine is driven by my creative mind and escapism. I like to make songs and create visuals to make them come to life. My life revolves around creativity!

Can you tell us where you are from?

I am from Cerritos, California. A little city outside of Los Angeles, nothing there but a huge mall.

What does your morning routine look like?

Depending on what time I sleep I usually wake up around 10 AM and immediately get to the coffee maker, then look through my phone, the "doom scroll" will be the death of me. After that I usually get some chores out of the way.

Where do you look for inspiration? A place, a person, a book, an action?

Any 1980-1990 dirty magazine!

What work are you most proud of?

I think the work I am most proud of is a little ambiguous, I am proud of the progress I've made through the years when it comes to my music. I just released an archive of my songs from 2015 to now. The songs aren't perfect but I think that's what I'm most proud of, the ability to respect my roots and all the imperfections that come with that.

What has been the biggest challenge on your journey?

I think it would have to be the nature of my work and having family interject their opinions on it. I think it came as a shock to them at first, it's still a little awkward to this day. Aside from family, it's just dealing with set backs and not being so tided to a certain outcome.

How do you define success? What are the goalposts you look out for?

I think we are dopamine freaks and instant validation is the curse of this generation, I have had to redefine success for my sanity's sake. Success is an inward phenomena to me these days. The goal is to just get things done and challenge myself to get out of my comfort zone. I'm also grateful for the people that support me, I think that is another success.

What's the best advice you've gotten from someone?

My good friend Sheree Rose, who was Bob Flangan's wife who participated in most of his performative work once told me "It's okay to be a weird woman" and I don't even know if she knows how inspirational that was to me. I was around 23 when she told me that and I was struggling with feeling like a spectacle. So to be able to just "be myself" as corny as that sounds, has been Thebes advice. I think as I get older I realize this unorthodox life I have picked out for myself isn't just a phase.

Who is someone that has helped you get to where you are now? How were they impactful?

You know, I would have to say my friends. Watching them slay in their unique ways is very motivating and highlights the importance of community. With out support from the people that I love, I don't know where I would be.

What are you currently listening to?  What is your go to song?

I'm always blasting Madonna. I love that woman.

What's the last thing you bought with cash?

Food!
