In some cities, the ceremony takes on a wild, chaotic energy, with groups of youths causing disturbances and even occasional arrests. In this zine, Yusuke Nagata documents the notorious Coming of Age Ceremony in Kitakyushu, a city famous for its extravagant celebrations. Presented in a portrait style, the work captures the individuality and audacious fashion of the young participants, offering a vivid glimpse into a uniquely Japanese rite of passage.
